Ummanity supports the Muslim community of Belgium during the most difficult times. Our funeral services are provided by trained and experienced volunteers, in strict compliance with the Quran and the Sunnah. We believe that every Muslim deserves a dignified funeral, regardless of their resources.
Our 10 services
Complete support, from ritual washing to administrative procedures.
Ritual washing (free)
Performed by trained volunteers, the mortuary washing is carried out in strict compliance with Islamic rites. This service is entirely free.
Mortuary washing training
We offer regular training sessions to teach the gestures of mortuary washing in accordance with the Sunnah. Open to all Muslims wishing to learn.
Funeral fund (Fard Ul-Kifayah)
The funeral fund pools contributions to cover the costs of repatriation and burial. A community obligation that we collectively assume.
Shroud kit (50€)
We provide complete shroud kits (kafan) in accordance with Islamic prescriptions, at cost price of 50€.
Cemetery action
We actively work with municipal authorities to guarantee access to Muslim sections in Belgian cemeteries.
Funeral advice
Our experienced volunteers guide you through all the steps to follow upon a death, according to Islamic rites and Belgian law.
Legal and psychological support
Comprehensive support for bereaved families: assistance with administrative procedures (succession, insurance) and psychological counselling.
Funeral organisation
We take charge of the complete organisation of the funeral: coordination with funeral homes, preparation of the funeral prayer (Salat Al-Janazah).
Identification of the deceased
In the event of death abroad or in special circumstances, we support families through the identification procedures with the competent authorities.
Alms for the deceased
It is possible to give alms (sadaqa) in the name of a deceased person. We redistribute these donations to those in need in memory of your loved ones.
